Are bamboo baby grows good for eczema ?

Is bamboo viscose clothing good for babies with eczema?

As parents of a baby with eczema this is an issue close to our heart, and having done the research we think bamboo sleepsuits have some big benefits. Here's why...

1. Less friction which is softer on inflamed skin. Bamboo viscose is naturally extremely soft and smooth, which reduces the micro‑friction that can trigger itching and flare‑ups.

2. Excellent temperature regulation. Overheating can be a major eczema trigger — especially at night. Bamboo baby grows dissipate heat more effectively than cotton, helping babies stay cool.

3. Moisture‑wicking which keeps sweat off the skin. Sweat trapped against the skin is another common cause of itching and flare-ups. Again, bamboo absorbs and wicks moisture away more efficiently than cotton.

4. Chemical free and safe. An added benefit of Stretchaboo's bamboo viscose is that it meets Oeko-Tex Standard 100 which tests for 1000s of harmful chemicals. We'd absolutely recommend looking out for this when buying bamboo clothing as not everyone goes through this process.

5. Built in scratch mitts. Again this is Stretchaboo specific, but having built-in, foldback scratch mitts up to size 6-12 months is handy as you can cover baby's hands at night to prevent too much scratching.

That's the theory, but what's it like in the real world? Lots of our customers buy our baby grows for eczema sufferers, and they've left some lovely reviews.

You can search for specific keywords on our reviews page, but here are a few comments we've pulled out:

"Complete life saver for my baby boy and his eczema... Stretchaboos have been a vital part of my baby boys life. He suffers with eczema which means we have a lot of hurdles from upset at nappy changes, skin factors in clothing, being in a huge growth spurt at 7 months old! As a first time real world mum all I can say is these have helped my boys skin breathe and reduce sweat in the night which is a big trigger for eczema flare ups." - Emily H

"Having a child with eczema, I googled the best material clothing, I read that clothing made from bamboo is highly recommended... the material feels lovely, and those nappy changes are a breeze to do, the mittens are handy as I can fold them down when he tries to itch" - Rebecca

"Got gifted these sleep suits from my sister for my 1 year old daughter who suffers from eczema. I can’t believe the softness of the suits they are just the comfiest thing ever... My daughter wears a legged sleeping bag to bed and these are ideal for underneath as they are like a second skin with no bulky poppers etc. Also love how efficient they are to change her nappy in/apply cream to her belly in the night thanks to the belly opening." - Meg
